SLJ Week 1 Day 1 Activity 1

Today is the first day of the Summer Learning Journey. Our first activity is to find our top three facts about NZ from the Tourism NZ website. Here are my top three facts about NZ:
1. 30% of NZ is forest.

2. The Auckland City Sky Tower is the tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere at 328 meters high.

3. When in New Zealand, you must drive on the left side of the road.

Another fact is that NZ is one of the first countries to see the sun along with Gisborne. Blog Ya Later!

  1. Kia ora Ben,

Congratulations on completing your very first activity for this years Summer Learning Journey. I am stoked that you have decided to jump on board and join us for some fun activities over the summer.

You have shared three very fascinating facts about our country, Aotearoa. I learnt so much about our beautiful country after reading your posts. I was extremely surprised that Gisborne (which is in New Zealand), is the first town in the world to see the sunrise. That means, if you were to take a road trip to Gisborne, you could be the first person out of 8 billion people, living in this world, to see the sunrise on a particular day. That is awesome. It makes me want to visit Gisborne. If Gisborne is the first city in the world to see the sunrise, which city is the last in the world to see the sunrise?

It’s awesome to see that you have included some great information about your home country. Please remember that when you find information online you must put it into your own words. Please rethink and re-word the parts of your post that are not in your own words. This will help me see that you have put a lot of thought into your activity and I can be sure that you have not copied it from the internet.

For future posts, please make sure any information you use is paraphrased (written in your own words) to make sure you receive full points for activities.

I am really excited to read all of your incredible posts that you have worked on today. Keep up the incredible work Ben.

Enjoy your last two days of school,
    Megan :)
