SLJ Week 1 Day 1 Activity 2

This is our second activity on the SLJ. This time we have to describe our hometown and say what is special about it.

Firstly I live in Auckland. This place is kinda weird because in NZ, Wellington is the capital city but most people live in Auckland. I don't really know what to write in this blog post so Blog Ya Later!

SLJ Week 1 Day 1 Activity 1

Today is the first day of the Summer Learning Journey. Our first activity is to find our top three facts about NZ from the Tourism NZ website. Here are my top three facts about NZ:
1. 30% of NZ is forest.

2. The Auckland City Sky Tower is the tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere at 328 meters high.

3. When in New Zealand, you must drive on the left side of the road.

Another fact is that NZ is one of the first countries to see the sun along with Gisborne. Blog Ya Later!

Ako Hiko Film Festival

Kia Ora guys, last term we had a film festival. We had to make a film about something that changes into something. I was with Toby, Bruno and Alex. We talked about how to make a good movie including our shots and angles. The shot we used most was probably the medium shot.

The Medium Shot
Wide Shot

Over the shoulder
Close Up
Then we wrote a script and made a small knock knock joke movie as a warm up.

Then we made a Storyboard which is a series of pictures that explains how the movie will go. Then we started making the movie. Here is our movie:

I was really proud of when we timed the door handle being opened with when the door actually opened. I hope we can do this more often in small groups but have more time to make it. Blog Ya Later!

Tri Star Gymnastics

Last week Wednesday and this week Monday, we went to Tri Star to do gymnastics. It was a tiring walk down mostly because it was sunny. At Tri Star we did a rotation with Room 6. First we split into 2 groups. My group went and bounced on a long giant trampoline:

Then we did a balancing activity:

And we also did a flip on a bar:

Once we were finished with our activities we were on our way back to school. We did go down to gymnastics again this Monday. We did basically the same thing but we were split into 4 groups and we got to jump into the foam pit this time. I really liked doing gymnastics and I would like to do it more but that was the last session at Tri Star. Blog Ya Later!

Waikowhai Intermediate

I have spent nearly 4 years at Waikowhai Primary now I'm moving on to Intermediate next year. I'm looking forward to start doing new things but I'm also quite scared that I have to be at school by 8:30. I've had a lot of highlights throughout our school years but my favourite one was probably camp. Here are some photos of camp we did last year.

I also enjoyed going to Tiritiri Matangi. Here are some pictures of Tiritiri:

And I also can't wait to go to Rangitoto. Then we are doing our Y6 speech. I already have mine planned so I don't have to embarrass myself on the stage.

Summer Learning Journey

Hi Bloggers, This summer we are doing the Summer Learning Journey.

For this blog post we had to choose a country that we would like to visit and I chose United Arab Emirates because a city inside United Arab Emirates is Dubai and I love how there are a lot of water parks. Some interesting facts about UAE is that they have the most unbalanced men to women ratio. For every 219 men there are 100 women. There are approximately 200 nationalities in UAE. The week also starts on Sunday and they go to school and work on a Sunday. Also they get Friday off.
